About

I am in the final year of my Ph.D and lecture part-time on 'Philosophy Now!' (http://philosophynowncad.wordpress.com/) and aspects of visual culture at NCAD. I am also a researcher at GradCAM. My Ph.D research focuses onĀ  the relationship between ethics and aesthetics (primarily in the work of Bracha L. Ettinger) and in relation to phenomenology, existentialism, deconstruction and psychoanalytic theory (Emmanuel Levinas, Simone de Beauvoir, Bracha L. Ettinger, Judith Butler, Jacques Derrida, Jean-Luc Nancy) and is funded by a scholarship from the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS). Other research interests include the art works of Frida Kahlo, the films of Michael Haneke and aspects of visual culture, gender, politics and ethics. My published work includes book chapters, journals, catalogue essays and exhibition reviews. I am also an arts practitioner and am involved in a multimedia collaborative performance work entitled 'Umbilical' which received its premiere in Rua Red, Dublin, November 2011.
